Hi, I’m Tim Daniels. I’ve been taking photography seriously since 2009, and have been lucky enough to have lived and travelled throughout Europe and Asia over the last few years, taking photos as I go and being published in magazines and on book covers. With my wife, I’ve lived in China, Italy and Thailand, but am now back in my home country of the UK.

It took me far too long to come to the realisation that the act of photography is something more than pointing your camera and clicking the shutter. Great photography tells us a story. It opens us up to a whole new world of ideas, emotions and experiences. It teaches us something about the world around us. We all have something worth contributing, but often don’t have the technical skills necessary to make our photos say it. I know that I didn’t.

On Lapse of the Shutter I create tutorials, how-tos and add-ons to help you learn those technical skills and develop your own personal style of photography. But I also want to offer you something more. More than travel photography, more than tutorials. I want to offer you a place where you can learn, make mistakes and play. I want you to be inspired to be the best photographers that you can be. This isn’t about taking the same old photos as everyone else. This is about creating photos that spread little gifts of joy and happiness. And what could be better, really?

Every week, I send out an email newsletter with the best tips and tricks I can find from across the web. If that sounds interesting to you, then sign up below. You will also get access to my free tools for Lightroom and Photoshop, the Lightroom Develop System, the Photoshop Colour Control ActionPack, and the Photoshop Landscape Colour Grades. If you’ve got a question, then contact me here.

Why not start by checking out the free Landscapes Masterclass tutorial, my most in-depth tutorial on how to create landscape photos that you can be proud of.

I just wanted to let you know that your piece on the Parts of a DSLR was BEYOND helpful, I cannot emphasize that enough. I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed reading about the different parts of a modern SLR and their functions. I’m really looking forward to seeing where my newly found photography journey takes me.
